SUMMARY:Festival at FORT—discover new perspectives on Cold War history
DESCRIPTION:August 14–16, FORT is hosting a festival featuring demonstrations of both past and present air defense equipment\, military vehicles\, talks\, personal stories\, and a quiz contest for children. Free admission all three days; guided tours of Stevnsfort are available for an additional fee. \nFestival schedule:  \nFriday, August 14, 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.: Air Defense Wing and HAWK \nThe Air Defense Wing—successor to the HAWK missiles at FORT—will exhibit and demonstrate equipment. \nSaturday, August 15: The grounds open at 10:00 a.m.\nExplore the vehicle fleet, view the Guard Hussars’ weapons collection and mortar firing, ride in the Piranha crew carrier, and visit the HAWK camp’s command vehicles and missiles. \n12:30–1:30 p.m.: Vehicle Presentation \nMeet all the vehicles and see them in action. \n3:00–4:00 p.m.: Preparations for the Parade \nWatch the large FORT convoy assemble before departure. \n4:00–5:30 p.m.: Parade Drive on Stevns \nThe convoy sets out: FORT\, Mandehoved\, Gydevej\, FORT. \nFORT Talks \nHost: Museum Curator Anders Knudsen \n1:45–2:30 PM: Air Defense During the Cold War \nHans Nielsen\, Retired Colonel (NIKE/HAWK). \n2:45–3:30 p.m.: The Danish Defense Today \nHans Peter Michaelsen\, defense analyst and guide at FORT. \nSunday, August 16: The grounds open at 10:00 a.m.\nSame program on the grounds as on Saturday. \n10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.: Contest \nThe East Zealand Museums are celebrating their 100th anniversary. Guess a special item from the storage collection and win two free tickets to all our locations. Also share your thoughts in the collaborative project: What should the museum of the future look like? \nFORT Talks \nHost: Museum Curator Anders Knudsen \n1:00 PM–2:00 PM: The First Women in the Armed Forces \nAase Schioldan\, a guide at FORT\, and “KRIS” on airspace surveillance in a three-story bunker. \n2:15–3:30 p.m.: Being an “air force kid” on Stevns \nMay-Britt Diechmann\, who grew up on Stevns as the daughter of a father in the Air Force. \nPractical Information \nThe festival takes place at FORT\, Korsnæbsvej 60\, 4673 Rødvig \nThe festival program runs from:\nAugust 14, 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. (kickoff with the Air Defense Wing)\nAugust 15, 10:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. (parade drive on Stevns)\nAugust 16, 10:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. \nThe festival is open to both children and adults.
