Huge Turnout for Stevnsfort's Opening Day

The mood was high, and a line snaked its way down the fort’s grounds from the main entrance to the parking lot as the Stevnsfort Cold War Museum kicked off its 2025 season.

Museum curator Anders Knudsen was busy issuing annual passes on opening day.

“What an opening! We’re completely overwhelmed. It’s fantastic to see so many locals show up and to feel the support and interest in our stories at Stevnsfort,” says Ilse Sørensen, deputy director of the East Zealand Museum.

377 guests attended the opening event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 313 annual passes were distributed, granting free admission to both the grounds at Stevnsfort and the Geomuseum Faxe. The annual passes were distributed only to adults, as children have free admission to both museums.

“Today, we’ve spoken with both first-time visitors and guests who have a history with and at Stevnsfort. Now we’re looking forward to seeing many of them return so that, together, we can create another exciting and educational season at the fort,” says Ilse Sørensen.

The season at the Stevnsfort Cold War Museum runs through October 31, 2025.
