Museums of East Zealand are marking the end of this year’s fossil-hunting season with exhibition booths, expert identifications, and a wealth of fossils from the Faxe area.
On Saturday, October 25, the Museums of East Zealand invite you to Fossil Day at KALK. On that day, the museum will be filled with amateur geologists and representatives from local geological societies, each of whom will have a booth where they’ll display some of their finest finds from this year’s many fossil hunts. As a visitor, you’ll have the opportunity to see, touch, and learn about the animals of the past and their imprints in the limestone.
Experts are ready to help
If you have any limestone or fossils at home that you don’t know what they are, you can bring them along and have them identified by the experts. Museum curator Jesper Milàn, who is a member of the Danekræ Committee in Denmark, will be on hand all day to help identify fossils and talk about what you might be lucky enough to find in the local area.
The day offers many exciting fossils to explore—and plenty of opportunities for a good chat about fossils with both experts and passionate collectors.
