Denmark's Secret Defense

FORT tells the great story of the Cold War. The Stevnsfort underground, cannons and HAWK missiles on the terrain stand as witnesses that peace, freedom and democracy cannot be taken for granted, and the story draws parallels to today.

Buy ticket

Experience the terrain's cannons and missile defenses on your own or join a guided tour of the underground fort as part of a larger group. Tickets for the terrain are purchased at the Fort, while tickets for guided tours are recommended to be purchased in advance, as the tours sell out quickly. If you purchase a guided tour, the terrain ticket is included in the price.

Due to the humid climate in the underground fort, the tiles can be slippery.

The stairs down and up to the underground fort are steep and long (65 steps – 18 meters down) – however, we have an elevator.

As a museum, we want to embrace as many people as possible. However, Stevnfortet is a former special workplace, so there are certain limitations in terms of accessibility – especially in the underground fort.

The terrain is accessible by wheelchair etc. However, there may be certain limitations with some of the equipment on display.

It is not possible to use electric vehicles underground.

However, it is possible to use manual wheelchairs, and if you don't have your own you can borrow one from us. Call for reservations on tel. 56 50 28 06 or contact us at fort@oesm.dk .

There are rooms in the underground that are inaccessible to wheelchairs and walkers. If you can walk a short distance (15-20 meters per walk), you will be able to enter and see these rooms. It is not possible to sit down in the rooms.

Remember an extra sweater – it's about 10 degrees in the underground fort year-round.

There is high humidity and the tiles in the hallways can feel slippery, so we recommend practical shoes.

For mold allergy sufferers and asthma patients, we would like to point out that mold occurs to a limited extent, and together with the cold and humid climate, it can cause reactions.

You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks and enjoy them on site.

DR.DK: ONE PLACE, TWO WORLDS

Watch DR's series "One place, two worlds", where episode 6 is about Stevnsfort in 1962, and how for decades it was a central military site; an important piece in Denmark's and NATO's defense.
