Self-guided museum tour

The guide will take you around the amazing exhibition "Denmark's fossil coral reef". Here we have brought to life the 63 million year old coral reef that formed the limestone in Faxe limestone quarry.

The exhibition takes you into the ancient sea to a time when sea crocodiles, sharks, fish and nautiluses swam around in search of prey, and crabs, sea urchins and snails crawled on the corals that formed the reef. All illustrated with the most beautiful fossils from the quarry as well as beautiful graphics and animations.

You'll also learn the story of the more than 900 years of limestone quarrying that has taken place in Faxe Limestone Quarry.

There is an elevator to the 1st floor of Geomuseum Faxe.
The tour is suitable for wheelchairs and disabled visitors.
